What year was your DS's cogat? Isn't your DS already in AAP? You posted last year.

How in the world do you know that she posted last year? Anonymous???

She's a regular- asks innocent questions like can we make it with these scores and then says her kids are superb. Same scores. Buzz off bragging woman.

So sorry. This is our first year in Fcps. We moved here from Chicago and are trying to navigate through the AAP system. DS has scored well I am told but I wonder what I need to do to support his gt application. Some here are so harsh.

Welcome.

You will need a thick skin here on dcum.

Please remember that the nastiness on this forum does not represent real life AAP.

DCUM draws out all the crazies.

Any kids from Oakton ES get their scores yet? We got pool letters about 2 weeks ago but no scores yet.

Not that poster.

They test out of state transfers in the fall for the NNAT.

My kid did not get any of those tests. We already had tests from out of state and started at the center in August.

Friends who transferred in from out of state and did not have the fcps tests took those tests in the fall.

I believe they took both the NNAT and the Cogat.

Second graders might have only taken the NNAT, and later taken the Cogat with everyone else.

Ask around.

That is what fcps does with out of state transfers. They get their testing up to date unless they qualify for AAP in the summer before school starts.

DS took Naglieri last year in Illinois and CoGat this year in fcps. Scores on these tests are respected nationwide so DS' Nnat was accepted by fcps when we enrolled DS last summer. We were told that GT here does not start until 3rd grade and we should wait for Cogat scores from grade 2.

Yep--we transferred from out of county when DS was a second grader. They had him take the NNAT in the fall of second grade and then he took the Cogat at the same time as his class.

NNAT 131 97%

CogAT
Verbal 139 99%, 99%
Quant 123 92%, 82%
Nonverbal 126 95%, 88%

VQN 133 98%, 94%

This is our first go-round with AAP. How do those scores look? I have some letters of recommendation so was planning to parent refer even though in pool.

NNAT 143

Cogat
Verbal 117
Quant. 124
Nonverbal 129

VQN 127 95% 86%

Cogat score is lower than we expected. How is this look?
