Maybe water is too boring for her? have you tried to flavor it? Maybe do some watered down juice? or make a fruit water- I have seen recipes where you put some pineapple and berries in and let it sit.
Re the asthma med: I use a steroid inhaler and I have to *rinse* my mouth afterward, not drink. I thought I'd mention that in case you could rinse instead of drinking.
This is the pp who said that my son drinks 4-6oz milk at each meal and carries around his water bottle. He only pees 3x a day !! Is this not normal? Got me thinking when I saw our response about 4-5 x a day.
pick out a fun water bottle- the funtainers ones have push button tops, don't sweat, and insulate pretty well.
unless there is an issue like getting too UTIs or having lots of accidents, he is fine. Some kids can just hold their pee more than others. Seriously where did this fear that we are all dehydrated come from? |
I was just told by a pediatric urologist at Duke that a 4 year old child should drink 4 cups of water per day. I'd listen to dictors over these people. Google it and see a 3 year ol needs three cups 4 year old 4 cups it's a cup per year until 8 years then it's the same until adulthood. Dark urine is a signal of dehydration and not good news it absolutely can cause dry skin!
THIS THREAD IS TWO YEARS OLD
The dark urine is a good sign that you are right to try to change something. Try changing around the temperature. Some kids like warm drinks, others prefer cold. Like the idea of a fun cup. Do you do a lot of outdoors play? After playing hard at a playground is when my kids will guzzle the most water.
