| You can find all of those fish here and a lot more. Black salt and the market on Maine Ave, but a lot of other places will have those fish in throughout the year. Don't be scared off the frozen fish. It is usually the freshes option because of the distances the fish have to travel. 99% of the sushi one eats has been frozen. Those commercial boys flash freeze the fish within minutes of being caught, plus it kills the parasites. |
aargh. Sorry. There really isn't going to be something like what you are used to close to Dupont. Black Salt in Pallisades is reasonable but a pain to get to unless you have a car. There used to be a fish guy at Dupont Circle market, but he died, and I don't think the stall is there any more. Maine Ave is not great quality, IMO, and the fish is not local. |
What else would be local other than crabs, oysters, rockfish, and catfish? |
| If you come to Virginia, MediterraFish in the Mosaic District is your place. |
| Asian markets have a wide variety of fish at low prices. I go to H Mart in Wheaton or Gaithersburg |
I was going to say the same thing. H Mart, Korean Korner and the asian grocery stores up 355 have a lot of fish. I can't say what they are because I never buy them.... |
LOL at filet of baby. I will never look at pale pink salmon the same way again! |
| Fishery Seafood Market, a hidden gem on Connecticut Avenue, just south of Chevy Chase Circle. |
| Thanks so much for your posts! Lots of great options and I'll get digging next week x |
+1 Also 2 minutes away is HMart and they always have a lot of fish. Sometimes, it's not the best, but if you eat fish regularly you can tell what is fresh and what is not. |
| Try Wegmans in Fairfax, Va or Woodbridge, Va. They may have other locations but those are the only 2 stores that I've been to. |
That is because you are buying farm raised Salmon. |
| Did Cannon's in Georgetown close? |
| i was going to recommend Cannon's too. i think they're still around. |
