OP here, thanks for all the responses!
I think we are going to plan for Yellowstone. Just curious how many days most people schedule to visit the park itself. |
| I posted earlier about Yellowstone; glad to hear that was helpful. I'm sure your family will have a great time, OP. I'd plan to spend at least 3 days, but more would be better. If you can just swing 3 days, I'd pick one place to stay and do day trips from there. If you have more time, you can pick a couple of different parts of the park to explore. |
We did a full week and spent time both at Yellowstone and Grand Teton but it depends somewhat on how much time you want to spend hiking. |

OP, if you call Yellowstone, they send you for free! A box full of books, maps, info. Really nice!
Also take a look at the book called National Parks with Kids (I think it's Fodor's). It's been my line of first research for Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Zion, Bryce, and Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. My kids are good hikers so I would use this to formulate my trips, and then check other sources (geared for adults) to see if there are more hikes that the book doesn't mention. |
