Is it fair to discuss a specific principal on this forum?

OK I'll go ahead and dish. It's Principal Jeff Steele of St. DCUM's Academy. He's a mean principal and I hear he sleeps with a coworker.

What is the issue?

ah, maybe that explains why I don't see it here. Well, I think it's a good thing if he does, really.

What about positive mentions? I think out principal is great and after seeing some of the other stuff posted here I am really happy to not have to deal with those sorts of problems at our school.

That said, I think this DCUM community shows some admirable restraint in this regard that they don't in so many others. (there ARE still a lot of individuals ruthlessly discussed by name.)

I do still want to find a way to talk to someone about this principal, though. There has to be a way to address concerns.

Why not talk with other parents in your school's community to see if they have similar concerns? If it is the principal's actions or behavior that are troubling to you, I suspect others might see similar patterns. Are you afraid of others knowing your concerns? Of the principal finding out about your concerns?

Post it on RateMyTeacher.com

Is Greatschools.net still alive? If so, you could post it there, though again, better not to use the name.

I don't think that is the appropriate forum for voicing complaints. Those websites are designed for students to rate their teachers- the people who come into daily contact with the teacher and can actually evaluate the course. Not even students have daily interactions with a principal- parents certainly don't. If you have issues with your school's principal, then voice those concerns directly the principal him/herself. There are also cluster-specific superintendents to whom principals report directly. You could contact that office. I'm sure you would hate to see yourself raked over the coals in one of these forums by a coworker or client.

I'm not especially happy with my child's teacher...

I could post a litany of complaints about her and use her name but would that be fair? No! Anyone that has an accusation directed towards them should be able to reply to that accusation.

Also you really need to know the source of the complaint. I know some of my hovercraft mom friends will have what I think are ridiculous complaints, but I know the source and why they are concerned about certain topics but also know they exaggerate to justify their complaints.

In reality if you have complaints about a principal you need to connect with other parents at your home school and then decide to confront the principal or elevate, bitching on an anon forum isn't going to do a thing for you.

Cyber bullying is cyber bullying if its a middle aged person or a teen. Unacceptable

This should not be a place to air complaints against an educator or call anyone out by name.

though people do get called out by name all the time, so that's a little hypocritical. (not of you, necessarily, but the community.) What about certain doctors? What about the "affluent begger" what'shername. Her name is google-able, and clearly was since people in Eastham, MA have found this forum through the thread in her name. Maybe there should be a rule that no names are used at all. (what about celebrities? We're free to bash and gossip because of the nature of their work? Not trying to be snarky, but I guess that is assumed to be the price of their fame.)

I don't think it's wrong to discuss your issues about the principal as long as you don't name the school or give out the principal's name. People discuss issues about their children's school on here all the time. However, they maintain the principal's privacy.

People talk about schools and their Principals all the time ("the Principal at school x is not very responsible, does not return emails etc."), not by name but it is not hard to figure out the name of a school principal. Don't see anything wrong with that, but the post about rumors etc. those are inappropriate and totally unfair.
