I have to kids who are 'gifted'. One is GT, the other is gifted. They tested just one point difference in IQ tests. One is talented in sport, the other has to work 2 3 times to get to the same level as the talented one. But the less talented sporty one has better verbal skills than the sporty one. The sporty one is straight A's, the less sporty one is A's and B's with some pushing but test well - he is lazy. They both test well. One of them is going to take the sport thing all the way to the professional level, and if that doesn't work he will get a business degree and take it from there. He said, what ever it takes he will be a monied man. He is extremely driven. The other changes his mind like he changes his socks, so I don't know what the future holds for him. Every teacher said he underachieve. The sporty one overachieve and would get into TJ, the other one would not. I guess I could push him to a greeter level but what misery. They have almost identical IQ test scores. So I think IQ is one component, but I think character and personality has greater weight when it comes to financial success. Their grandfather has what we call a genius IQ level but has had no obvious success and I think personality has a lot to do with it. One of my kid would eventually crash and burn if I push. The other is relentless in his pursuit of success with little encouragement.
