10 year old son cried when he got shots at the peditrician's office.

Some kids are just sensitive about things. My 11 yo tried to escape the nurse when he got a shot last year. I had to physically block him. His baby brother was sitting in the car seat kind of mesmerized. He cries when he gets shots too.

But he IS my baby and always will be so I loved all over him because it is a hard age. Who knows what will make they cry?

OT but holy cow! how big are his feet???

LOL!

OP- did you child cry before the shot or after? I have had a few shots that stuck into the bone and they were so incredibly painful!

I'd be embarassed.

Not sure what shots he got, but my recent tetanus and chicken pox boosters hurt like hell!! I didn't cry, but I'm sure I would have at age ten!

Be thankful your son expresses his feelings. Seems healthy and trusting to me.

Is your son as redhead by any chance? They actually perceive pain more acutely than other people.

My flu shot really hurt. I didn't cry, but if I were ten years old, I might have.

I also want to add that I think the significant part of your post is that you are new to parenting. If so, I think perhaps you need to read up:

It doesn't strike me as that unusual. He was probably worked up, anxious about the shot. It hurt and he cried. I think it's understandable, don't make a big deal out of it, KWIM?

Oh geez, do they give shots at 10 yo well visits? Mine will probably cry too.

OP here-- thanks for the feedback- he is not a redhead, but I have heard that too about redheads! He definately got tense before the shot and starting saying "no, no!" and my husband had to hold him close. I love the lollypop idea! Thanks!

Am I the only one wondering why OP spells surprise/surprised with a z??
