W-2 to Verify Employment?

You’d be amazed at how many employers will not confirm the start/end dates of former employees.

Can't you contact your former employer and ask for a letter confirming dates? They might be more willing to share it with you. This is just a guess.

I regret providing that information to a 3rd party who wouldn't do their jobs of verifying employment.

I passed a security clearance without any problems or needing to provide proof of employment.

The 3rd party doing the background check had enough information from me to verify employment and attendance at education institutions.

They were just too lazy to do it.

My employer ended up showing and telling everyone my salary history because I was taking a huge pay cut to work for their nonprofit.
