OP, if you are truly describing a split foyer, the only problem I see with those plans is that the foyers are so tiny that you feel forced to quickly make a decision to go up or down. Consider increasing the size of the foyer to include possibly powder room and large closets and much more floor space. That could mean increasing it 4 times its original size. Bump it forward and sideways. That relaxes the folks upon entrance. I would stay mid century if it is mid century. Like keep the railings metal, consistent hardwood flooring. Landscaping on the outside can help, maybe with large trellises and a porch.
