| I was just offered a teacher/float poisition at a daycare after being unemployed for about 1.5 years (had a baby) I went in 2xs but I can't accept the job.....doesn't pay enough and would not cover the cost of daycare/babysitter/nanny for my son |
That's rough . |

Can they provide daycare for your son either for free or at a discounted rate? Many daycares offer this perk to their employees. Also consider the longer you stay out of work the harder it is to find a job, you could make this job work for a little while as you keep looking and , moving up the ladder. |

I have no idea how many interviews, but it took me nearly 2 years to get a job.
Unfortunately, I was laid off so now. I'm looking for more work, and getting trained for a different skill. |

For my current job, I applied to two postings - was robo-rejected for one and called for another. So that resulted in:
one phone screen with HR + another prep call all day interview with 4 cases exploratory calls with three teams in-person final conversations with two teams All in all, 7 interviews. It was a lot. |

My last offer, which I did not take, was weird. I got contacted by a recruiter. I was not looking, but will always talk. I had an informal discussion with the hiring manager (not really an interview). More, to schedule one. Next thing I know, they offer me the position...they seemed really desperate.
I later learned (through the grapevine) that this was an unfilled position for a year, and it is a key position which was putting a large contract at risk. With the job requirements, there were very few people in the country qualified (like 5 people), as it required very specific skill sets and experience coupled with very high level security clearances. The person who told me this -- a friend of mine -- also knew the hiring manager, who found the connection through linkedIn (and based on the recommendation, offered me a position without an interview) |

With my current job (1st professional position), I had applied to maybe 5 or 6 places and I got interviews with 3. I did all 3 interviews but the 1st interview was with my current employer who then did a follow up interview and offered me the job! It wa any 1st job offer!
I am currently looking for a new position but am limiting myself geographically so it is more challenging! I've gotten 3 interviews for 2 different agencies but I'm still waiting to hear back. |
