+1 I have always had a good experience there and the prices are usually slightly discounted. |

PR Running (I think thats the same as Potomac Running?) has a kind of frequent flyer program where you get money off after you spend a certain amount. In the end it evens out so that I'm paying about as much as I would on a discount running site for my running shoes, because of the discount. I'm a running geek and love the chit chat at the running store.
Georgetown Running Company in georgetown is great. But once I went into the Chevy Chase branch to buy a spibelt right before a marathon, and the salesguy looked at me (middle aged woman) and said very snidely "How do you know what a spibelt is?" I sent an email to whomever reads such things complaining and never heard back. Really pissed me off and I haven't been back to either store since. |
My DH swears by RNJ. I got a pair there that I am almost positive are too big. I was having trouble telling which felt best and they didn't really help me to figure it out. When I got home I realized that they were a size and a half bigger than I normally wear. I don't think they've helped my running and may have contributed to some pain issues I'm having. |
| I've had RoadRunner VIP and they've pretty much sucked. |
Depends on how much you buy. But I do agree it is a bit of a bait and switch. the first year it is $2, and then jumps up to 25-30/year. But it has been worth it for me. RRS also has (now) 4 local stores. Just opened one in Rockville and Sterling (only in FC and Columbia previously). I never had any luck with the Fleet Feet in the kentlands. It always seemed I got stuck with the newbie who never really knew anything. After a couple bad experiences, I never went again. Prefer RR or Potomac (although I had a really bad experience at the Reston location). |
+2. just went yesterday. I must have tried on 15 pairs before i found the right ones. the guy who was helping me was so patient. I've got bad feet so I'm ridiculously picky about shoes. |
I had the same experience at the Chevy Chase store! I think the sales guy is actually the owner. I've never been back and NEVER recommend it to friends. I go to Fleet Feet in DC. Longer drive, but I love the people there. |
WTH? What an idiot. Great way to lose customers. |
