Is it possible to get admission decisions prior to March 1st?

I was invited to an auction at a school where my child was later rejected.

But who invited you? Was it a friend? Someone working on the auction committee? They have no control over admissions. I once invited someone interested in DC's school to come with me to the auction. Later they applied but didn't get in and she was bitter, saying she had purchased several items at the auction. I had to tell her "it doesn't work that way". I doubt admissions even knew she attended the auction.

Not the person to whom you are responding, but I was invited to an auction, too, at a school where my child had applied and was later wait listed. Not by a friend - I received an invitation in the mail from the school. I found it odd. No, I did not attend. I didn't send any money, either, on the assumption that it was unlikely that admissions knew about the invitation. If they wanted to know how our family was about giving $$, they could contact our preschool.

And sometimes vice versa. I've seen admissions let a family know early if a younger sibling was not going to be a candidate, especially if, in their opinion, the child seemed to have significant needs that they felt they couldn't meet.
