| My niece applied to Columbia. They will announce on 15 Dec. We are all very anxious! I think she has it in the bag, so I'm not worried like her parents. |
Congrats! signed, jealous mom of senior. |
| From STA, I understand that some boys got good news from Duke, Dartmouth, Brown and Tulane. |
| Just saw the fireworks from FSU. Any Noles here? |
| Brown is out. Very popular this year. |
| Just found out DC got into UMBC (univ of Md Baltimore County). Not first choice but still exciting to be in somewhere! |
Congrats! This is positive affirmation of work well done. Sit back and see what else happens, no matter what. |
| DC accepted at Michigan today. Takes some of the pressure off and can drop a couple of safety schools. |
Us too. Same situation, and DC feels relieved. |
No, the poster is a parent. College acceptance is about the student NOT the parents. |
If the parents are paying the bills, it's about them, too. |
| DC accepted at Penn State University Park last week. Very relieved! All of sudden she lost interest in writing essays for other schools |

DD got into first choice SLAC. Nice to be done.
I'm hearing that many schools had their largest number of ED/EA applicants this year. It sounds like the process if shifting earlier. I was surprised by how many of DD's friends applied somewhere early. |
My daughter's best friend is going to FSU. I have a close friend with two kids there and they absolutely LOVE it! My daughter was accepted to - VA Tech, Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss Have not heard from University of Florida, but I don't think she'll get in in. Our neighbors son didn't get in last year with a 4.2 GPA and excellent test scores. I had no idea it had become so competitive. This is our fourth child. I'm secretly hoping she'll choose either Georgia or Ole Miss. |
I heard the same thing - especially for top 50-type schools - a lot more deferrals and even denials than Naviance would suggest is normal. There were some surprise deferrals at our private, which is forcing some strategy changes. The game is constantly evolving and there are surprises every year. It must be agonizing for the kids! |
