One dog (husky) we lost after turning 16, another husky & chow mix we had lost at 15
Am I the only one who's never heard of the rainbow bridge (I get it, just never heard the terminology before).
Wow, these are some old dogs! Maybe it's because I've only ever had large dogs, but they never lived much past 10 or 11 (the three i grew up with and one my husband owned when we met). My 100lb mutt is still going strong at 12 though, which I'm hoping in a sign he'll live forever.
My sweet foxhound passed away this fall at 11. I was/am devastated. As was my whole family (DH and DC). We recently have new additions that we adore. But, I still find myself tearing up at funny little things she used to do, esp. around the holidays. She was a quirky, neurotic lady but didn't have a mean bone in her body. Tearing up writing this . . . don't think I'll ever get over losing her.
My beloved tortoise shell kitty died last March at 19 years old. Sniff.
My dad has 5 cats. One just died... He was 24. His litter mate is still alive. They were strays he adopted as kittens. I had a 15 yo mutt.

7:27 so sorry to learn of your doggie's state. Sounds like you both found so much love with each other.
One of our kitties in my family of origin was 20 when he walked over. They are such loves! |
