Have you tried hummus or edamame? DS 3.5 loves both. He'll eat hummus on cut veggies or bita or rice cakes (currntly his favorite b/c dd 9 mo. eats lots of rice cakes)

Thanks for the encouragement. As for low fat, it's not even a consideration of mine on my list (I'm the OP). If the items are low fat, it's purely coincidental. Heck, I'd gladly drench it all in butter if it would put a pound or two on him!
It's hard to not dread meal time, just because if he doesn't like it, my DD6 tends to not like it. Then the two of them whine for something else. When my DH is home for dinner, he doesn't support me NOT giving them what they want. He'll make a big deal out of stopping HIS dinner to get up and make them a PB&J. The kids definitely know when to push whom how far. Today his lunch was peanut butter on toast. Open faced. Probably what, 100 calories? I don't know how he exists on what little he eats. But I am trying to give him nibbles of 100 calories every two hours through out the day, and he does tend to front load his food in the morning, eating 3 pancakes, a glass of juice, a glass of instant breakfast, and asking for a boiled egg at 11 am. If my DH would get on the same page as me, the stress of it would be hugely reduced. And DS3 would learn "Eat it, or eat this" means "Eat it, or eat this, ONLY" |
