Please support Bridges, Briya and DCI

It seems weird to outfit DCI which is just going to leave anyway when another school may need it. Or, there is another school I've heard which has almost 40% SN kids.

It seems like this was just thrown together. I'd probably sign it (and share) if it was just Bridges or had more logic. But DCI (as a holding patter until their "good space" opens) turns me off of this.

Because Creative Mind is also growing and nowhere in here is there a proposal for Bridges to merge with another school (be it CM or DCI). So if Bridges also wants to grow through middle and maybe high school, and CM has the same plan, then how is there room to have TWO PreS3 - 12 schools in this same space?

DCI moving out gives Bridges the chance to get the space, share the rent for (most likely) 2 yrs, and during those years figure out the structure and funding to take over when DCI moves out or find other partners that will allow for their continued growth. It makes sense. But CM also wants to expand and I'm pretty sure that once they do their next move, they don't want to have to move again. If CM is also in the running for Sharpe, unless someone produces a proposal that has them also sharing the space, it is simply a very different use.

I support Bridges getting it, and partnering with DCI if that is what makes it possible.

Right now Bridges can't fill the whole space. They are growing to 5th grade, but they are only at 1st so far. So they need a partner to help pay the rent for a couple of years. That's why YY was at the old location near Providence Hospital. The building belonged to Potomac Lighthouse, but they couldn't fill it yet, so they let YY sublet to help pay the rent and YY got incubation space. This is the same kind of arrangement. DCI needs swing space until Walter Reed is finished. Bridges/Briya needs a tenant to pay the bills while they grow into their space. It's not really an unusual arrangement when a school acquires a facility.

Sure, why do we talk about anything on DCUM? After all, Tommy Wells will do what Tommy Wells wants to do. DCPS will do what DCPS wants to do. The PCSB will do what the PCSB wants to do. Etc. etc. Some of us must think there's some value in showing community support for an idea.

And Creative Minds has a space for next year. Why would it move when it doesn't have to?
