Why exactly are PG County schools failing

Middle schools and high schools are nearly all "failing" except for the TAG and magnet/specialty programs and even the best elementary schools compare only to the median in Montgomery, Howard, and Anne Arundel counties. People who can afford to opt out do. Does that mean you can't get an okay education in some parts of PG with a very specific path through various magnet programs and good luck in the lotteries? Of course you can. But I wouldn't recommend moving here and relying on the schools based on those odds.

I worry about this because we have a 2 year old and I really don't want her going down the wrong path once she hits grade school.

I really prefer to live around African Americans to be honest but hate that the school situation isn't better.
