Newborn/fire pit

Anonymous
I think it's fine to have your baby in the vicinity of a fire pit , as long as there is an awareness of the distance between the baby and the heat. Smoke is obvious and easy to move away from. That isn't what worries me. If you do have a glass of wine, remember that your tolerance to the tempature could be higher than your baby's. If you can pay attention to your baby's body language, being aware not to sit too close to the fire, and move back when necessary, then it will be just fine. I love family around a fire pit. Good times! I resent when folks don't pay attention to their own children and it's disturbing to watch a crying baby too near a fire, because mom or dad is careless or oblivious to how close they are due to their own socializing or alcohol consumption. Maintain your awareness and everyone should have a good time. A crying baby is a sure sign of discomfort and no one wants to be the one to have to tell someone else when they are being negligent. ?
