Not healthy. Too much salt.

what, you can't brine your own turkey? #ptbarnumwasright

I brined in a bag in the fridge, with the turkey in a big bag on a platter. There is an apple juice brine recipe from the Washington Post that is good. Just saying you do not need to use cooler, bucket, etc.

When I brine smaller cuts of meat, I use a ziplock freezer bag (this has the benefit of needing much less liquid). I do the turkey in a cooler so that I don't need to take up space in my fridge (which is jam packed the day before Thanksgiving).

If I were going to keep the turkey in the fridge, I would use a garbage bag to brine. I don't see why it would take up any more space than the WH turkey.

I'm sure I could but the point is I don't want to. I won't have the fridge space and don't think it's a smart idea to leave it in a cooler outside. I would rather pay a bit more and have it already brined. Why do you care?

I have had the Whole Foods brined turkey and it tasted pretty good. I procrastinated and it was the only non-frozen turkey I could find the day before Thanksgiving.

I think PP was just making a fairly obscure joke.

Obscure? Don't most people know PT Barnum and his most famous quotation?

"Most people" do not know who Nancy Pelosi is (seriously, she's at 49% name recognition), so I am going to guess no.
