Aetna Innovation Health vs. CareFirst Blue Choice Advantage?

Carefirst is better in a thousand ways.

Carefirst Blue Choice Advantage is an HMO plan that does not require referrals and allows you to go out of network at an added cost to you. The disadvantage is that they pay the provider substantially less then the PPO plan, so you may find it difficult to find specialists that are in the network and taking new patients. I would not trust the online listing and call your current providers and ask if they are in-network with Carefirst Blue Choice HMO. If they are not HMO providers then you will be using the POS (point of service) portion of your benefit which probably has a deductible and percentage and not a straight copay

Aetna is terrible. Worst insurance we ever had.

Do you take Carefirst Blue Choice Advantage?
Carefirst PPO is no longer an option for FCPS employees.

Aetna innovation is the PITS! Years ago I had UHC for a brief period of time before becoming covered under my husband's plan. Aetna Innovation is now refusing to pay claims stating that I have other insurance. Despite correcting them on THREE separate occasions, I keep having to remind them that they are solely responsible for claims. Very shady. I would not recommend them to anyone under any circumstances. I had CareFirst until 1/1/2014 and they were wonderful. If there's a choice, RUN from Aetna.

Stay as far away from Innovations as you can get! They are terrible... Their customer service is NONEXISTANT! I have been literally told by supervisors that they have been told by management if it looks like they might have to pay, "drop the call"! Waiting times are as high as two hours and above. David Notari and his brain dead VP Amy K. Turner are absolutely in it for themselves. I have their personal numbers ... I dare anyone to see if they can get a call returned.

Notari: 703-914-2927. ...Turner: 703-914-2971 I am now filing a formal complaint against Innovations with the VA State Insr commission. The fact this scam company is jointly owned by INOVA tells me I now have to be suspect of their care.
