Kindergarten for boy with Mild Social Skills/Attention needs

What about Lowell School? Capitol Hill Day School? Sheridan school? Or St. Patrick?

PP, Washington Episcopal does work with students who have a variety of issues. Both of my dcs have ADHD and dyslexic kids in their classes. Any child who needs extra attention spends time with the grade specialist. Reading and math, for instance. WES does work with a very broad spectrum of students.

Any other recommendations? Does anyone know about or recommend the River School?

River School specializes in kids with hearing loss. I don't believe they take kids with normal hearing who have any issues.

CHDS provides a small, nurturing environment, and pre-K and K are mixed, which would presumably help the transition, but the size may also mean that they don't have the experience providing specialized care that it sounds like some of these other schools do. If you are open to visiting several schools, I think it is worth at least some investigation.

The River school is incredible but I don't know if this would be a fit since the children who do not have hearing issues are really models for the children who do have hearing issues so your son might get lost in the mix. St. Patricks is also wonderful and is very nurturing. Would need to know more about what accommodation you would be looking for. I have seen them work with some really bright kids who may have the "wiggles" and need some help sitting through lesson. That sort of thing. Anxiety--hmm I am not sure what the school could do for that other than it's a small school and the kids are all so close that maybe your son would feel really loved there and that would help his anxiety. I would call admissions and be candid and they are great about saying what they can work with and what might not be a fit. Good luck..now that I am way past admissions..sort of miss the excitement of discovering new schools.

not for attention needs.

Plus one, not a good fit

Lowell is hit or miss - it depends on the teacher. Going through expansion, and a lot of teacher turnover. Their heart is in the right place, and they say they will work with, and will admit, a child like yours. Some of the teachers just don't have the knowledge to do what is promised.

My child with a similar profile has thrived at the Auburn School.
