Eid Mubarak

Traditionally, you slaughter a lamb or goat and donate some of it to the needy. We don't kill things, and the neighbors might not like that too much anyway. So I involve my kids in some other charity project. This year they used some of their savings to purchase animals for others through Heifer International.

Most American-Muslims will pronounce it "Eed" (rhymes with deed or seed). But some who have accents or more traditional backgrounds, may pronunce it "ay-eed" - or something else difficult to spell out, since there are letters/sounds in Arabic that don't translate well. But if you're wishing someone a happy eed, the "eed" pronunciation is well accepted.
