| I applied to Duke, UVA, William and Mary and Emory. Got into all and chose Emory. I loved it and strongly believe it changed my life: great professors, diverse student body, great options for internships and cultural events in Atlanta, lots of fun and interesting student activities. I had close friends from all over the country. I think students there are mostly very happy regardless of where they are from. While there is a large pre-professional orientation, there is also a strong emphasis on service and you will find Emory grads doing a wide range of interesting things after graduation. I would be thrilled if my children attend some day. |

Used to live across the street from Emory. All of our babysitters were from Emory. Very smart, lovely young ladies. I felt like they were all going to do great things with their lives. Very nice campus, good weather, access to a lot of things to do. I think it's a wonderful school. Atlanta is a nice city. Not my favorite but nice enough. Easy to fly out too so that's a plus for getting home during breaks.
Remember it is still the South but Decatur is a VERY progressive area. Downtown Decatur is small but so adorable. If you stay inside the "perimeter" you are fine. Once outside, you can run into a more narrow minded population (I have lots of personal experience with this). I would be shocked if anyone didn't enjoy Emory. |
I moved from Atlanta five years ago and I'd say 80% of the stuff in decatur is new since I left. |
| I graduated from Emory in the late 90s and it was a wonderful place to go to college. All the cultural amenities of Atlanta are a short drive away and the school itself is situated in a beautiful, residential part of Atlanta/ Decatur. The school attracts high profile speakers and visiting professors such as the Dalai Lama and Salmon Rushdie. The medical and law schools are highly regarded, although I went the liberal arts route. My friends were diverse and from all parts of the country. I applied to Northwestern, Tufts, Wash U., and Tulane but was accepted into Emory early admission. It was my first choice. |
And, when I tell people I graduated from Emory, most seem very impressed.
