How is 3rd grade AAP going?

Curious. Are most of the kids like this or do a lot of them also have more varied interests besides just academic pursuits?

My son in AAP plays Little League, is a Cub Scout, is learning piano, loves playing with kids in the neighborhood. Although he does have intense academic interests, he has extracurricular activities that he enjoys, too. He's not all about school.

My son spends half of his time on extra curriculum activities such as basketball, tennis, soccer, games and washing movies. He does HW for one hour each day, including reading time.
I have to say that if you really want to focus on academics, there are endless things to explore, for instance, you can go much deeper in social studies, science, etc. We do not do much enrichment because we are tired after work. My son wants more but he wants to do it with us...

My son loves his AAP class. I have not seen the HW from GE classes yet so not sure it is the AAP or it is the 3rd grade. Kids are taught to manage their own HW; having math HW 3 days per week (only 5-10 min though); word-study 4 days per week and the activities are fun; and very sophisticated social studies. I have to say that there is minimum content on science so far.
So far my son has talked a lot about what his "peers' said. He thinks his peers are genius and what they say are much more accurate than what we say
