we were in this same predicament earlier today. I told DH who thought it was just too weird to bring up. But it actually got louder today. So I went downstairs to "put some burp cloths and baby gear in the washer" and he was just sitting there calmly and continued to watch it, with the volume medium (but still audible!).

I was just stupefied.

Ok, that is just disturbing. No sense of shame in this very awkward situation would make me want to leave their house to go to a hotel.
Your FIL may have some issues, and there is no need to be subjected to that on a daily basis. Tell DH its time to go to hotel.

Where is your MIL during all this?

Is he doing this on purpose to make you leave?

OP here.

FIL is very caring and a great guy. He has never treated me badly or made me feel unappreciated. MIL is always out of the house at work (odd hours).

DH told me to just stay upstairs when I hear it. So im watching golden girls on my computer kinda loudly so i dont have to hear it

well today he only watched it 3 times to my knowlegde. I woke up at about 6 to nurse (heard it then). Then I showered while LO took a morning nap (heard it as I came out of the shower.. this was at about 11 am). Went out and came back at 4. House was silent. 4:30- it started again.

FIL has some control issues - due to age?

His house, his rules... but not for long! A soon as his grandchild can toddler around, that gives you the perfect excuse to SHUT THIS DOWN without so much as "please".
