I've found this to be true at every PQ I've been to, including Dupont. I think it's part of their business plan.

I think it's a Belgian chain.

It is a Belgian chain. I've eaten at the main location in Brussels and the service was super friendly and food delicious. Better than the ones here.

I really, really want this chain to succeed because I love their breads.

But the service in Clarendon is truly, truly awful.

I have found the service at the Spring Valley location is perfectly friendly but very slow. The staff and service at the location at Wisconsin and Western are fine but I have only gone there during off hours.

Agree it s too expensive.

They served my husband a dish containing pistachios, to which he is strongly allergic, after he specifically asked the waiter whether there were any pistachios in there. And then thy offered to buy Benadryl for him at CVS!

If you write to complain like I did they will send you free coupons. Maybe that's the way to get them to improve.

I agree about the slow service at both Bethesda locations and the one in Friendship Heights. The problem is that it is one of the few places with healthy food and a relatively decent atmosphere. Otherwise, I feel like my only other options are Cava or Panera Bread.

Went to the wildwood location. Spouse asked for a side of creme fraiche. Waitress said something about her boss and quickly brought the small side of creme. Later she brought the bill and apologized that she didn't want to charge for the side (it was about a dollop) but her boss was looking and made her add $2 to the bill.

Same store: I ordered three coffees to go. I asked where they keep the half and half and milk and the guy says, "this isn't Starbucks. We don't do that." I didn't have a response but haven't been back.

I've been to the locations in Dupont, Bethesda, and Old Town and the service has always been great.

The one in Old Town is great. And New York, and Belgium.

I go to the nearby dry cleaners a few times a week. ^This explains why the the Wildwood location always looks so empty.

Really? I've always had good luck, but I've only gone weekend mornings (early) and weekday afternoons.

when we lived in london, we loved it and the service there was brilliant. also like the fact that it doesn't feel like a chain but it is.

I can't WAIT for the one to open in Mount Vernon Triangle. No idea about the bad service, or maybe living in cities all my life, I'm immune to rudeness.

Been to the G'town and Bethesda locations. Only good service when I was there!

I went to the Wildwood location to buy an assortment of pastries for a meeting. They couldn't sell me any because they were out of boxes. Guess this thread explains that dysfunctional is their daily routine.
