+1. And wegmans is the regular grocery store! |
If you're a lefty, then Yellow Springs, OH Athens OH is fun as is Oberlin.
I always wondered what Davis, CA was like. |
Oxford, Mississippi. I have a condo right off the square that I can't wait to retire to! Amazing blues music & art galleys, southern dining (city grocery, boure, big bad breakfast, snack bar) one of the nations largest indepentant book stores (square books), its the home William Faulkner I could go on and on. |

I may stay in DC but if I moved I thought it might be to Winchester, VA (Shenandoah University). Not too far to get back to DC, closer to the mountains, which I like. |
Nice town....Very nice in the summer, but brutal winters. However, if you can handle the cold, it would be a great place to retire to. |
Far from things. How about Santa Barbara? |
How conservative is that area? If it was on the liberal side I'd retire there in a heartbeat. But my guess is it isn't. |
Hotter than shit in the summer. Brown and flat. |
Yellow Springs OH is an awesome little town. Very quiet, walkable, hiking, fun festivals. It's close enough to Dayton if you want to go see a movie or go to the mall. VERY lefty. |
Chapel Hill.

Blacksburg is moderate to liberal. Most college towns are. Go outside of Blacksburg, and you are in the 50's. You can look how it voted online. |
UVA area is really hard to fly out-of. No major airport ~ hard to visit others in a different part of the country. Same for southwest Virginia, Williamsburg, etc |
Within two hours from San Francisco and Tahoe. How about La Jolla? |
Charlottesville, VA
Charleston, SC Asheville, NC |
