Dog licking himself raw

If it's one spot, it's probably a hot spot. My dog just got one for the first time. it's an extremely itchy spot, often the result of a small bug bite, and has an ifected component to it, as far as I understand. Vet is treating it with an anti-itch spray, antibiotics and antihistamine and it seems to be getting much better. We tried just the spray first but that didn't do it.

You can google dog hot spots and see some images. If that looks like what it is, I would see the vet and get it treated.
