For instance, do you own a red sweater?

You can do the same thing with pinterest. Type in red pants and all different outfit combinations will come up.

The good thing about Polyvore is that you can use it to shop as well.

Have you tried corporette.com or boardroombelles.com or caphillstyle? They are all DC style bloggers. I know you said you wear scrubs to work, but they also have features like date nghts, etc.

If you truly are starting over from scratch, try a personal stylist. Tell them you have $150 to spend and need X. They will help you and they can get you several pieces. Keep going back as budget allows and eventually you'll build a nice closet.

I'm younger than you, but I stick to brands and feel like they keep me stylish. I really like Loft, Jcrew and Kate Spade, but I'm petite and they look good on me. The store workers can help you too. Ask what's new for fall and buy a few pieces. Since you wear scrubs to work, you don't need that many new outfits, just a few new things will make everything fresh.

Alreadypretty.com Sally is great and you can send her an email if you have a specific question
Youlookfab.com

Already Pretty? Really? I think her outfits (and haircut and tattoos) are terrible.

Her haircut is terrible in my opinion but I like her tattoos because I have some myself . Unfortunately we don't share body shape, I tall and skinny, while she's much shorter and curvy, so I really can't use most of her outfits. I'd look like a Christmas tree . But, she is very wise and I love her attitude and how helpful she is if you write to her.

I am the PP. Still disagree about her sense of style, but fwiw, I don't dislike most tattoos (I'm not one of THOSE dcum crazies). But I hate that ugly green one on her leg.

This is my go-to:
hello-gorgeous-blog.blogspot.com
She posts her outfit everyday and all her stuff is from "regular" stores. Good luck!

I have the same question. I tried looking up teal shoes, and I only saw teal shoes to buy...I want to know how to make an outfit out of them. I have some ideas, but would like more.

I'm a 35 year old mom and I used to have a lot of time to be super stylish. Now I'm running around with the kids and don't have much time for shopping but I still want to look put together so I found a few key pieces that work for me:

-Skinny jeans in a dark denim and one in a fun color (I like plum for fall)
http://tinyurl.com/qxhbts9
-drapey cardigans: http://tinyurl.com/qhqwpbf
-ballet flats: http://tinyurl.com/nnonzgp
-a couple of fun knits from Anthropologie: http://tinyurl.com/o8oen7k
-riding boots: http://tinyurl.com/pavyhem
-nice handbag: http://tinyurl.com/nahuc5n

I mix up the outfits with fun accessories, love scarves, long necklaces, cool belts.
