I find the food looks good but tastes really bland, a lot of it is inedible.

+1. Never eat there!!

+3 Overpriced and tasteless

"Amy's" has a frozen absolutely delicious bean and cheese burrito. It heats up in 1-2 minutes.

Anonymous wrote:We bring in burrito bowls at Chipolte - I get veggie and Dh gets chicken, and neither of us add sour cream or cheese. While one waits in line at chipolte, the other runs into the grocery store to buy a bag of tortilla chips, a pack of tortillas, a bag of frozen corn and an avocado. Then at home we divide our bowls into portions (mine gets split in thirds and Dh's in half), and make burritos using the store bought tortillas and adding sliced avocado with chips and corn on the side. It is healtheir this way, better portion control, and we make 2 or 3 meals (usually the dinner plus a lunch or 2) out of it.

+1 on chipotle. We usually buy one burrito and split it for dinner. Delicious and probably the cheapest meal in town.

The big problem in prepared foods is sodium. Whole Foods tends not to over-salt their prepared stuff, which is why it tastes bland.

I am really not trying to hate here, but I don't get this. Instead of getting a burrito with no cheese or sour cream, you eat half a burrito bowl, a tortilla, avocado, chips, and corn? And the second option is healthier?

Kashi or Amy's makes some pretty good, fairly nutritious frozen means. I'll often pick up something yummy from the frozen section at Trader Joe's, but bulk it up with way more veggies (always keep a bunch of frozen veggies in the fridge). Spreads it out more, and adds some good healthy bulk.

She eats it as 3 meals.

I like the Trader Joe's carnitas (pork). We make our own burrito bowls- add letuce, salsa, homemade guac, brown rice, cheese/sour cream. etc. One piece is enough for 3 people usually with some left over.

Ok then, so she eats a third a burrito bowl, a tortilla, avocado, chips, and corn. I'm still not sure overall that there is much of a calorie or nutrient advantage, if any, to her meal over the straight up burrito. I'm confident she would be better off just eating the entire burrito bowl as one meal. Again, I'm cool if she just prefers her way and thinks it makes for a more enjoyable meal. And I love me some Chipotle. It just seems like a lot of effort for very little if any return if you are doing it solely for health.
