Rental up/ landlord hasn't said anything

It should default to month to month. We lived in a rental for 2.5 years in MD. After our one year lease expired the landlord never contacted us to sign another lease either. I thought it was odd, but I didn't bother him about it.

I'm a DC landlord and leases automatically convert to month-to-month after the one-year lease is up. Easy peasy.
