Belly Button Piercing

Honestly don't let her do it. It screams low class. She will be unfairly judged. Plus, it carries a slutty connotation because if a girl has her belly button pierced she's obviously going to want to show it off by wearing belly shirts.
I am over 40 an am seriously considering getting one. I love that it draws attention away from a wide mid section and makes a person look thinner

Ummm, no.

FWIW, OP, my rule is that once you're 18, you can do whatever you want to your body as long as it doesn't hurt you (like, say, drugs). So in our house this is everything beyond ears. Now come home with a homemade nose stud like I did, and I'll sigh and shake my head, but I won't make you take it out.

Heck, I'm making my DD wait until she is 12 to get her ears pierced.

I am way too old because this just strikes me as insane. Think of it this way, kids want to grow up and push some boundaries, if the boundaries are too loose they are going to have to go a lot farther to exercise independence from their parents.

It's vulgar.

Earrings go staidly in the earlobe or nowhere at all.

No nose ring (are you bull?), no belly button (are you a belly dancer?), no lip piercing (are you a freak?).

Let her go wild on something else.

Girl in my freshman dorm got a belly button piercing that got infected.
It was painful, gross, and took a long time to heal.
I say wait.

Belly piercings are really outdated anyway. It's no longer cool even in the crowd that used to get them.

Besides, as numerous posters have said it is trashy and lowmclass.

this is purely a look for girls who want sexual attention. No 12 year old should want sexual attention. No parent of a 12 year old should even consider this.

I had one around 16. It quickly becme infected. Fast forward one pregnancy and I have an ugly mark where it was.

In my house, you are allowed to get tattoos and body piercings when you're 100% self-supporting. In other words, after you've graduated from college. Before then, there will be consequences.

I'm 36, I took my belly button ring out 16 years ago. I still have a hole scar that will never go away, it's ugly. I would it allow my 12 yo to get one.
