I make $88K, which I believe to be adequate.

Me too. Compared to many of my friends, this is a lot of money. But on here, I feel poor.

$97 here... DH makes $40-ish. It's comfortable, if we want to continue where we are. Our big issue is digging out from the upside-down house and finding a DP large enough to move. But not living hand-to-mouth

Here is not what counts. Try to keep up with all your needs, and a third to half of your wants. That's what really matters - not what some anon snarky people online say to make you feel better about themselves, you know? I earn $70k in SF, CA, and although I wish I earned a smidge more so I could more comfortably move to a better apartment, I'm doing just fine. I'll never be wealthy or take fancy trips out of the country, but I just think that's for other people. It's not for me.

82k here. Great colleagues, great flexibility, great benefits. Could always use more but not willing to give up the less tangibles.

I make 70K. It's doable if you live below your means, but yeah, could do with more!

Me too! Make aruond 70K and take home is around 48k or so. Right now we pay abuot $860 biweekly for a nanny. So since i'll break even with the second, I am just going to stay at home!

I make 80K and I'm mostly comfortable. 10K more would be my sweet spot

These very positive posts show that there is a whole lot more to life than a big salary. Thanks DCUMers for keeping such a positive perspective.

70k, masters, have stayed with my current job even though I know I could make more if i moved because I love my co-workers, flexibility and commute. maybe some day when the kids are older ill be willing to work longer hours, but not at the moment!

OP here. I'm a single mother.

OP again, and yes. It's a very interesting, flexible job where I get to use my brain every day, and the bills are covered. I consider myself lucky.

Do not believe everything you read on these boards

$88k'er here. DH brings in another $60k. We live in a less expensive neighborhood, and we do just fine.

92K HHI for 2 parents and 2 children, one with special needs.

It's very difficult right now and I really hope we can change jobs and have more income soon.

Last year, I was the breadwinner and our adjusted gross salary was 44k - that was our first year of having a child and coinciding with DH's job getting mostly cut.

This year has been better - I'm making 74k and DH just started making about the same.
