Is any legacy status sufficient?

Not true actually. Google around and you'll find average SATS in the 70s and 80s at Yale were around 1350-1400.

I'd be interested in seeing those stats -- they didn't instantly appear when I googled. I'm not doubting you -- just curious about the data and where to find it.

Also, statistically speaking, knowing the average SAT at Yale doesn't really tell you whether someone (a legacy in the top quarter of her HS class) with that score would "probably" be admitted.
