a bit of an exaggeration, no?

troubling - lol!

Anonymous wrote:The fact that you are posting here for recommendations is troubling. A "mixed tape" as we used to call them is a very personal gift. At a minimum, the person making it has to have a clear idea of the actual songs that the receiver would like. The songs have meaning. They're connected in some way.*

There are so many genres of music from any time period. You should already know what your friend would want to hear if you are going to make a "tape" or cd. If you have to ask for suggestions, then it's not the right gift. I don't mean to be rude. Just being realistic.

*For a more complete explanation of this, watch a great movie with John Cusack called "High Fidelity."

You are thinking of Don McLean.

My list includes Elton John, early Billy Joel, America, Chicago, agree with Kansas and Neil Diamond.

A sampling of good songs:
Elton John: Your Song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Philadelphia Freedom, Candle in the Wind
Billy Joel: Piano Man, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, Honesty, Only the Good Die Young
America: Horse With No Name, Ventura Highway, Magic, Tin Man
Chicago: Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry, Saturday in the Park, 25 or 6 to 4
Kansas: Carry On My Wayward Son, Dust in the Wind, The Wall, Point of Know Return
Neil Diamond: Hello Again, Sweet Caroline, Love On the Rocks, September Morn, America
