Also check out Mansoureh on Cedar Lane near Route 50--I also hated most home daycares I found, but really liked her. Unfortunately, she didn't have a spot that work with when I needed care, but might work for you. |
Thank you for posting this. Is Happy Kids daycare primarily for infants and toddlers? I need to find childcare for another year but DC is almost 4. |
Pp, happy kids has a good website, I think it will come up if you google. Pretty sure they take preschoolers. |
PP, do you know how many kids are at this daycare and what the weekly cost is? |
At age 4 a daycare really isn't that great especially when infants are involved. Try preschools. |
It's tough to find a preschool that is full time for working parents. DC is on the waiting list for the full time preschool that her sibling attended. Unfortunately, they have told me it's no guarantee that they will have a spot for her in September because they anticipate all the 3 year olds to move to the next class. We love that preschool. It was play-based and it was incredible the amount of stuff she learnt, lots of focus on outdoor activity. |
Full day in and around Vienna? Lets see there's Tyson Corner Children's Center, Bright Horizon's, First Steps, Merritt Academy, KinderCare - Vienna and Oakton, Fiore, Discovery Woods, Your Child's Place, A Child's Place, Tiny Tots, Cedar Lane Montessori, Hunter Mill Montessori, Oakton Montessori, Holly Brook Montessori, Hunter Mill Country Day School, Baby Toddler Preschool Land, Green Hedges, Sunset Hills Montessori, Boyd Montessori, Appletree I and II, Kidsom, St. Josephs, Westgate Child Care all within several miles. Probably missing a couple, but that's a start. |
Chesterbrook Academy too. |
True, but to be fair, a number of these are not really "full day"--several on the list end at 4:30 or 5, which is pretty hard for a parent with a normal job to swing. |
Which ones? Hunter Mill, yes, but there is a teacher who will stay till 5:00 so some can consider it. The rest of them I believe end at 6:00 pm or even later at start at least by 8:00 if not 7. I would say the majority are 7:30-6:00 pm. I've toured just about all of these and other than Hunter Mill I never had a concern about timing and we need care from 7:30-6:00. |
Oh and Discovery Woods ends at 5:00, but they keep saying they may consider staying later. |
Just checked Discovery Woods and they are now open till 5:30. |
There's a nice preschool at Lemon Road Elementary too. |
YWCA childcare and JCC are two others to consider as well. |
Stay away from Your Child's Place. They used to feed their infants crackers so that they would shut up and not cry. Oh, and here's their latest DSS reviews:
