Thee kids are probbaly raised by the same moms who drink multiple glasses of wine every night "to unwind" and wonder why people call them alcoholics. |

Great post. Rolling Stone is entertainment, not journalism or investigative reporting. Dartmouth is not like the other Ivies -- and that is a good thing. |
I think the whole Dartmouth drinking culture situation is a result of the ill-fated decision not to admit you. I think that admissions mistake caused the Dartmouth campus to go into blackout drunk mode every weekend. If you had been admitted, things would have been different. Didn't you get rid of the crime in New Haven while at Yale? That's the rumor anyway. |
That is true. Kids learn from their parents that the only way to deal with life, relax, or be social is with booze. So sad. |
| Can someone please explain to me why is hazing so prevalent amongst American born college students? Is it something in the American culture which enables, pacifies, and supports hazing in colleges? Has the culture in America denigrated to the point where higher education is no longer valued or taking seriously? Why is hurting others something that people laugh about? Hazing is sick, disgusting, and demoralizing. Only a socio-path or sadist will take pleasure in harming other people. |
| It's about making contacts and friends that's why you pay for it. Education is second especially if it's not a STEM degree. |
Probably because so many elite colleges were men's colleges and that was part of the culture and tradition. There is probably much less hazing now than in the past. |
