Best steakhouse in DC or Bethesda?

Agreed that the actual steak at Ray's is the best. More of a foodie meal than a special event meal, though, since the ambiance is terrible

+1 for Ray's, for the steak. But it's not a special event destination like the others.

A happy compromise is Ray's the Classics in Silver Spring. It's still not suits, ties, and obsequious service. But a nicer atmosphere than the other Ray's establishments. Same great steak.

Still a rushed service though!

True, so not the milestone place OP is looking for.

This is so random but there is this Italian restaurant on Capitol Hill in DC called Acqua al 2. I have been there 4 times. I ordered a different steak each time and they were all mouth watering amazing. It's kind of out of the box as far as searching for a traditional steak house but in my opionion it is one of the best places to get steak in the area.

I have been there quite a few times (DH and I are taken by his grandma who loves it) and the steaks are subpar. Not great flavor or quality.
