Are Folks Really Doing This???????????

I would agree that the idea of someone "buying" their way into a private school is disgusting. However, the schools rely on donations via fundraisers and campaigns to ensure their programming, teacher enrichment etc are current.

The rub is either massive tuition increases each year, or fundraising from those within the institution who can afford it.

It is the difference from public schools, who depend on tax dolars (and are often having to make cuts) or parochial schools.

So, what do you think that you are doing when you write those tuition checks?

I agree that the market is not very transparent, but I don't find lack of tranparency disgusting, per se.

I am paying for a tuition which, in my opinion, provides and instills a love of learning and a foundation for learning how to learn in a way that my local public school does not provide.

Our family is not connected, is not elite, and it is a stretch to afford the tuitions, but it is worth it for us.
