Where to move in Arlington??

We live in Clarendon, and our local school is Key. Zip code is 22201.

We live in the 22202 ZIP area (Aurora Highlands). We can walk to either Pentagon City or Crystal City Metro in 10-15 minutes. The area is very convenient to downtown, and is a vibrant community with many young families. My children aren't in school yet, but I have only heard good things about our neighborhood elementary school (Oakridge). Our neighborhood also has the option to apply to Claremont. We are in the Wakefield HS boundary, but as folks have previously mentioned, boundaries can change (as can the quality of individual schools). We're in the neighborhood for the long term and will make HS-related decisions when we get to that point some 10 years from now or so.

Houses are expensive, but more reasonable than many of the neighborhoods already mentioned in N. Arlington. Most SFHs in decent shape (i.e. not tear-downs) are in the $550-800K range.

It's a very walkable community with tons you can do without getting a car (a plus in my book).

I also live in 22202 Aurora Highlands and love it. For someone moving from DC to VA this is the most "urban" feeling of the Arlington neighborhoods - in my opinion. The houses are generally not as nice as Cherrydale and other parts of N. Arlington, but it's a fun, eclectic neighborhoods where people really do know one another. We have one car which we only use on weekends as the neighborhood is very accessible to metro, grocery stores and other conveniences.

I live in Lyon Park and love it. We are walking distance to anything you could want-Metro, Restaurants, Market Common, Starbucks, etc. There are also plenty of great playgrounds. Our elementary school is Long Branch. Houses tend to be a bit expensive, but they run the gamut depending on size (obviously!).
