What do you freeze?

On a cookie sheet, whatever you're freezing, freezes individually. The pieces don't get stuck together and that makes it easier to store and handle them later on. Once everything is frozen on the cookie sheet, slide them into ziploc bag for easier storage in the freezer. They also freeze quickly when spread as a single layer on the sheet.

If I'm not going to use it whithin a day or so I freeze it-better safe than sorry(I'm a little paranoid about salmonella)

Also have heard about freezing small portions of baby food in ice cube trays-once frozen, transfer cubes to a ziploc bag and then just defrost and use what you need for each meal.

There are a lot of tips on cooking websites about what and what not to freeze-if I remember correctly, anything that hasn't already been frozen once can be frozen except pasta, rice, smoked salmon(apparently freezing affects the taste and the texture)

Probably, in terms of texture being affected, but especially with pasta and rice (can't speak to salmon) it may not be enough for you to notice. Lots of folks on the Chowhounds message boards freeze pasta and rice with acceptable results.
