Can a law firm associate expect extra pay/other advantages for bringing in new clients?

Ha, this is such a big law attitude. Small firms are MUCH more entrepreneurial. If OP really has good connections in an industry, then a small/boutique firm would be more than supportive of him bringing them in. It is true that he will still be very junior on the matter, but if he really knows the industry and is a reasonably sharp person, he can be doing really good legal work on a few years.

OP here. I am a woman And I am also not a kid anymore (I certainly wish to be 10 years younger).
