Would you stay in a job just bc the health insurance is better than your spouse's?

What if you switch to Kaiser now (open season is coming up). But dont quit your job. See how you like Kaiser, and if its stinks, switch back.

Kaiser is great -- all your records (appointment notes, immunization records, etc) are accessible online, you can email your doctor, you can request refills online. If you have to go to the lab, it's in the same building.

This doesn't make sense. Can DH get back time with the kids?

Well, on many measures, such as the quality of care, outcomes if you get sick, likelihood of getting the kinds of preventive care that matter, you'd be much better off if you changed to your husband's health insurance. Kaiser generally, and Kaiser of the Mid-Atlantic specifically, are considered among the very best health insurers from both quality/outcomes and patient satisfaction, based on measurements of quality care.
So no, I don't think its worth it to stay in your job just to stick with a second rate health insurer.

I do think BCBS in this area in particular, and PPOs generally, are overrated. A lot of people have had trepidation about Kaiser, but every person I know who uses them around here loves it.

We switched from BCBS to Cigna at my work, and the amount of freaking out that happened was unreal. A year later, everyone agrees Cigna is better.
