Our dining room has a ceiling fan installed by the previous homeowners, and it was one of those $99 jobbers from Home Depot, so poor lights, wiggly fan, etc. I'd like to replace it with something less ugly and more functional.

Do you really want/need a ceiling fan in your dining room? We had ceiling fans in every room (house didn't have air conditioning until previous owners installed it) but removed the one in the dining room and replaced it with a nice chandelier.

Like the OP of that other thread, my house never feels cool (although I think in my case it might be more that my internal temperature is off, rather than the house). Otherwise, no.

Simple-- it should not be wood at all!

I have a Modern Fan Company fan.
