Willow is pretty on paper but he double w sounds gives you bitchy resting face.

You're listening to 99.5, aren't you.

Agree with a PP that if you do Wendy, go with Gwendolyn... though if you're going to go with Gwendolyn, I prefer Guinevere... and prefer Genevieve to that.

I love Wendy! Don't like the others. Agree that Whitney is very dated, and sounds to me like a snobby rich girl who rides horses (I think I'm thinking of Barbara Hershey's character from Beaches!!)

That is my mom's middle name and she hates it. I grew up hearing about how her friends used to call her Wanda the witch.

Anyway, of the three names OP offered, I think Whitney is the best. I can't stand Wendy and I have a coworker whose dog is named Winnie, so that's all I can think about when I hear that name.

I think both Whitney and Wendy are nice and not dated. I also think they work well for a little girl or for a professional woman. I think that if you went with Whitney, you could use Winnie as a nickname if you wanted to.

OP, are you looking for a W name?

I am a Wendy.

FWIW, I have not met any Wendy's who are younger than 40. Most of us are 40-60. That was the Wendy era, so to speak.

The name "works" in the same way that Jennifer or Linda "works." But I would not choose it for my DD.

What about just Wen?

My one year olds name is Whitney. Unfortunately, people think I named my child after that crack head Whitney Houston though. Hoping that fades as time goes on.

Winnie--as long as it's short for Winifred. Agree with pp that she'll probably decide to go by Fred.

Wendy makes me think of gawky, clueless, helpless Shelly Duvall in The Shining.

That and my friend's sister Wendy who curled her bangs with a curling iron every day and wore blue eyeshadow.

Plus, that goofy song "It's Wendy"

Whitney just makes me think of the archetypal rich girl from a sitcom- who refers to Daddy and her horse a lot.

Winnie- old money. Still not appealing.

"And now, the President of the United States, Winnie.".

Out of those three, I'd choose Wendy.
