| My PS told me that removing that skin is more difficult than it seems. Check out tummy tuck on the internet. |
exactly, when you remove that "flap", the skin naturally needs to be tightened. When it gets pulled back and tightened the belly button might need to be relocated (depending on how much skin is removed) |
| If you have had children you need tummy tuck, and lipo is piece of cake compared to that...you can do both same time. Mommy makeover. big surgery...worth it. Long recovery but can drive in a week, best done in winter...you have to wear girdle... |

OP here, thank you everyone for chiming in!
I have done 2 consults, both surgeons not fans of smart lipo for various reasons. Those who I talked to only do traditional lipo. Luckily I do not need a TT, as my abs came back together and I do not have excess skin. For this I'm grateful, as I know the recovery from that is extremely painful. However, results I've seen from TTs are nothing short of amazing. I just carry my extra fat below my belly button. Going gluten free has helped some. I'm still on the fence. I'm such a perfectionist and very hard on myself and think if my belly turned out even slightly lumpy, I'd immediately regret my decision. After reading a zillion reviews on Real Self, it really has me questioning if it is worth it for someone like me. |
OP, when I read your post, I thought, "why can't this woman accept her amazing body?" Based on the height and weight you gave, my guess is that you look fabulous. You carried some babies in there. You're getting older. Life would be great if we could maintain our 18 year old bodies, but we can't. Unless you're a celebrity whose source of income comes from how you look on a red carpet or in a bikini, why not just embrace your already awesome abs. |
| I hope this doesn't sounds (too?) judgmental but I'm just amazed at the number of normal, every day, fit women who are having lipo. I guess I always thought it was for obese people??? I'm 5'5 and 135 after 3 kids, probably a prime candidate for lipo but 1) I'm chicken & 2) I'd rather spend 6k on something else. Also, I guess I feel pretty OK with what I look like 4 decades into life and 3 kids later. I find myself caught between feeling like people should be able to do what they want to their bodies to feel good/better about themselves and then also feeling like aren't we going too far trying to be perfect? Better (?) versions of ourselves which is really just fake ......? Anyway, PP, you sound very healthy and I bet you look like a hundred bucks. Good luck with whatever you decide!! |
| PP - it's actually the opposite - a surgeon wants you to be in fairly good shape before the lipo. Any PS worth his or her weight would not do lipo on a very overweight or obese person. |
| I don't have the tummy issue so much as the outer and inner thigh issue. Despite exercise and good diet. I am 43 and done with kids. Has anyone done this area for Lipo and could recommend their surgeon (local). Thank you! |
