Or 14 months old.

You need a disposable swim diaper with something on top - it can be the plastic pants or a reusable swim diaper.

Not sure why 14 yo is such a big deal. There are many out there who have incontinence. We have a 17 yo with incontinence and allow here to swim using a swim diaper and plastic pants. It’s not a big deal unless you make one.

The Huggies swim diapers work really well. We put those under my son's swimsuit which also has some built in padding. Some of those plastic pants say they only hold in poop which seems like a red flag to me. Particularly if the kid had a looser poop.

My DD is a large 4yo and she's in a size 7 diaper (still needs it at night) so I can't imagine a 14mo needing a size 8.

I always just used a swimsuit that had a reusable swim diaper as part of the bottoms when DD was a toddler. She never pooped in it.

I never used plastic pants and was picturing like...shorts or long pants instead of underwear. Now I know what they look like thanks to Google.

FYI— the disposable swim diapers do not absorb water; so if you only use those, your baby is peeing in the pool. It's best to use the reusable swim diapers but both will hold poop— but not very long.
