What was the most selfless thing you did in the last week?

I didn't cut in front, the barista understood that this particular patron needed additional time. She offered me a short cut, and I ceded to the elderly.

I guess I suck for liking cupcakes. Sorry.

So you want kudos for doing the right thing in the first place? Awesome.

Not insult a crazy DCUM poster whose most selfless thing was letting an old lady order cupcakes.

Pretty much yes. You weren't there. Granny was super, super annoying and caustic to everyone. I enjoyed helping her place her cake order.

I guess you just had to be there.

Okay, so now Granny's a bitch. Why didn't you say that in the first place?

Well. I guess I was raised differently. We never call grannie a bitch.

...more time into my mother's care.

I mentor elementary school children weekly throughout the school year. I also think I did pretty good for Teacher's Appreciation Week. I could have phoned it in to a degree, but they got homemade cookies and sweet poems from my DS on one day this week.

A tractor trailer tried to make a right turn and cut too sharply. The back trailer was coming up on the curb. I saw it, but the woman wearing headphones didn't. I pulled her out of the way just before the thing hit her. She looked terrified at first. I think she thought I was trying to attack her.

I donated blood on Wednesday.

Blood donation burns 600 calories. Hardly selfless.

16 gauge needle, usually used in blood donations. Not the PP, but after the juice and cookies normally consumed after donating blood, that "600 calorie" bit is pretty moot. Additionally, you don't burn 600 calories donating - that's the rough estimate in energy that it takes to rebuild your blood over like 1-2 months. You do the math about how many calories a day that is. Enjoy your extra daily tic-tac though!

Yea, I donate once every 8 weeks to burn 600 extra calories every 2 months.

Not insult a crazy DCUM poster who criticized, quite self-righteously, another poster who selflessly let an elderly woman order a very special cake.

Why come onto a "selfless" post and be hateful?! Seems ironic and really uncalled for

To Mother Cupcake (which you should totally use as a pseudonym on DCUM, btw)...keep up the good work. Patience is a virtue and it is so easy to get caught up in rushing around all the time. When I have time, I like to let the person behind me in line at the grocery store go ahead of me (especially if they have just a few things and I have a cart full)...small gesture but people really seem to appreciate it.
