Yes, he has been paying rent and property tax on time for 20 years.

Can someone with some connections please find a closeby spot to rent to max?

Ive never heard of him before but it sounds like his family and business were a landmark in the communiy and the thing about his wife is soo sad. I dont have the means to help or I would help. Can someone who knows someone pull some strings, please?

I heard it's not just that he could move to a new place. There is a custom built freezer in the current space. Currently the best hope is if Rockland's agrees to rent back to Max for the summer, so he can have one more season before closing.

Very sad! He can come to McLean - there is no good ice cream out here.

So sad! Max is the best. We used to live in GP and although it may not have been the best ice cream on the planet, it was good enough for us to support such a kind, thoughtful, sweet neighborhood icon at every possible opportunity. My kids loved his ice cream cakes. My friend had countless milkshakes for each of her 3 pregnancies (I believe she claimed she had one during all of her labors!). I was so sorry for his recent loss - and I do hope his daughter's doing ok too. If anyone hears where he lands, business-wise, please post so we can all support him.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I adored his wife. He seemed really shaken after she passed. It's sad he has to endure another battle.

Would be great if he could take over the jp's strip club place instead.

Good grief, JPs is still open?

OP, do you have any idea when he closes? Is this immediate?

In our neighborhood newspaper, Northwest Current, Max says he has no interest in moving to a new location. He gave some sad quote along the lines of the existing location will be his coffin. Poor guy said he just spent tens of thousands in upgrades as he clearly wasn't expecting an eviction.

It is very expensive to expand. I do not think he has the capital.

That is why Rockland wants his space - ready walk-in frdige, bathroom.... Just knock down half a wall and they are done. There are a couple of spaces for Rockland in the neighborhood if all they want is a bigger space.

Sorry, I mean expansive to relocate, not expand.

I think the landlord is a racist. As long as the tenant pays his rent, why should she care who she leases her property to?
