We have cheap knockoffs of the latter from Overstock and we love them.

I have a similiar table from world market and did 4 of the matching side chairs with the Anna slipcover chairs on the ends. I think the fabric really softens the rustic look - I got the linen color.

Definitely fabric covered chairs. You need a soft Belgian linen to soften that heavy wood.
